15min.lt (one of the largest free news portals in Lithuania) recently published an article on the increasing scale of cyberattacks targeting e-commerce stores in Lithuania. These attacks have rapidly become a daily issue rather than an exception. Every third online store is targeted by hackers, and the consequences of failed security can be extremely damaging. Leaked customer data, malicious code installation, removal from Google search results – these are just a few examples of what e-commerce owners face.
In the article, I reviewed the most common security vulnerabilities that businesses often overlook. One of the most frequent scenarios is the use of outdated admin accounts or weak passwords, which allow hackers to easily gain access to the system. Insufficient protection, lack of regular updates, and third-party external modules can also make your e-commerce site an easy target.
I also discuss real cases from Lithuania, where security gaps led to not only the loss of hard-earned progress but also the company’s reputation. Additionally, I compare Lithuania’s situation with countries where cybersecurity is a constant priority, such as Dubai, where security measures are an integral part of daily IT operations.
The article also provides specific recommendations on how to protect your e-commerce store from day one. Properly configured server security, the implementation of two-factor authentication, and training employees on security best practices are all essential steps to protect your business from cyber threats.
I invite you to read the full article and check whether your e-commerce store is properly secured. Don’t leave your business vulnerable – take action before it’s too late.
